5 Things We Wish We Knew Earlier

Starting out fresh always feels nice. If you want to avoid typical problems, we got you covered!
  1. Pick the starting location of your village carefully. Ideally you will be surrounded by different ressources, not too far away from a mine. Just take your time at the start of a new game to wander around and look for a good spot.
  2. Resources do not respawn. Because of that, handle them with care and do not spend, craft and build mindlessly.
  3. Don't go overboard with new Villagers. Keeping up with their needs is a challenging of its own and if you fail in providing what they demand will result in them leaving the settlement forever (which means wasted Jotun's blood).
  4. Prepare for the Winter! Try to stack up on wood to keep the campfires burning, food to keep the villagers satisfied and help them survive the cold by equipping them with clothing and cooking hot meals.
  5. Get some Buffs. Later in the game, you will eventually make contact with mightier enemies that drop mysterious items. Building newly unlocked buildings that use these items might be a good idea? *wink wink

And a bonus one: while many of the bosses aren't too difficult, which is good for acquiring the aforementioned buffs, the Stone Jotun is a whole different story. Be prepared when you face him and dont take your wolf pup with you... This golem hits hard and the pet's close combat does not pair well with this encounter.
