Are you also one of the fellow space travelers, plagued by the 'YOUR CONNECTION TO THE HOST HAS BEEN LOST' Error in ASTRONEER?
You have come to the right place, as we try to guide your spaceship around this issue - so without further ado, lets begin!
The error, unlike its title suggests, is probably not even a connectivity problem after all. It's much more likely, that this issue has its roots in the save-state of your co-op partner within your save file.
So in order to prevent this from happening, make sure to manually duplicate your saved games from time to time.
You can do this by following these steps
- Open up the menu (ESC on PC, Options-Button on Console)
- Select your Save File
- Use the Duplicate Option
You are currently experiencing this issue but have no working backup save?
Don't worry, the following fix might just solve your issue (temporarily).
First, the host has to invite the co-op partner as usual.
After getting the invite, the co-op partner should try to establish connection by accepting the invite in the Steam overlay.
This will most likely result in the known 'YOUR CONNECTION TO THE HOST HAS BEEN LOST' error discussed here.
The Game also might freeze at this point, don't worry, just continue.
From here on, don't try a another invite or manual join - instead, navigate back to the Steam overlay and select 'Join Game' instead.
This will most likely load you into the session with a sped-up visual of the ingame days catching up.
At this point, you're all set and can continue playing - enjoy!
There is currently no known workaround for this issue on console but inviting and joining back in might work as well.
Fixing the ErrorThe bad news about this: it's just a workaround, not a fix.
You will have to repeat the steps mentioned above every time you launch your session.
As of the time of writing, there is no known fix to this issue. If we hear of any, we will update this section to let you know!
