The BIG Multiplayer Lineup of Gamescom 2026

Gamescom 2026 was unusually generous to co-op and multiplayer fans. Alongside some of the biggest franchises returning to the spotlight, the show delivered plenty of completely new games - from dark-fantasy action RPGs and chaotic co-op shooters to creature collectors, strategy games and some surprisingly ambitious two-player adventures.

There are some familiar names here, like Gears of War, Rayman, Turok and Worms, but also a whole bunch of games we had barely heard of before Gamescom. Some are already targeting releases later this year, while others are still a few years away - and a few don't even have a release date yet.

We've grouped the biggest announcements by genre below, so you can quickly find the games that fit your kind of co-op. As always, we're first giving you the quick overview, but you can also watch the full video and then head down into the sections to wishlist your favorites!

Action RPGs & Fantasy Adventures

If you prefer your co-op with a healthy dose of monsters, loot and questionable decisions, Gamescom had you covered. We got several new action RPGs, ranging from the dark-fantasy world of Tarae to the Norse-inspired roguelite Chosen by Odin. And yes, Wolcen is getting another chance at multiplayer after the first game famously had a rather complicated relationship with it.

NODUSFALL
NODUS FALL
NODUS FALL
  • Action RPG, Adventure

HoYoverse surprised us with NODUSFALL, a new Monster Hunter-style action game built in Unreal Engine 5. The dark-fantasy world, mythical monsters and focus on co-op teamwork immediately caught our attention, although there is still surprisingly little information about its release, platforms or monetization.

Tarae: The Unbound
  • Action, RPG
  • PC

Tarae: The Unbound is a dark-fantasy action RPG inspired by Eastern mythology, with fast combat, six classes and a surprisingly deep-looking build system built around the Five Elements, Yin and Yang, Karma and reincarnation. Online co-op is confirmed, although the final player count is still unknown.

Path of Exile 2 (Release Date Announcement!)
  • December 11, 2026
  • Action RPG, Adventure, Free To Play
  • PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S
  • 1-6 Player(s)

Path of Exile 2 finally has a date for its full 1.0 release: December 11, 2026. The launch brings the completed six-act campaign, new classes and weapons, improved endgame systems and expanded co-op, including six-player parties, couch co-op and cross-play. Most importantly, the full release will also make the game free-to-play.

Wolcen 2
  • 2027
  • Action RPG
  • PC
  • 1-4 Player(s)

After the troubled launch of the original Wolcen and the eventual removal of its multiplayer, Wolcen Studio is getting another shot with Wolcen 2. The sequel returns to the classless ARPG formula, adds four-player online co-op and is planned to enter Early Access in 2027.

Chosen by Odin
  • Action Roguelike
  • PC, Xbox
  • 1-3 Player(s)

Chosen by Odin sends up to three warriors across the Nine Realms in a co-op action roguelite built around a shared blessing system and Fate Dice. Your choices don't just determine your own build, either - you have to decide whether to take an upgrade for yourself or leave it for your teammates.

Co-op Shooters & Action

Shooters were another big part of Gamescom's multiplayer lineup, from the return of Gears of War to a new Turok with three-player co-op. There are also some more unusual takes on the genre, including a PUBG spin-off with roguelite progression and a survival shooter where apparently being an influencer is now a legitimate combat role.

Gears of War E-DAY
  • October 6, 2026
  • Action, Shooter
  • PC, Xbox Series X|S
  • 1-4 Player(s)

Gears of War is going back to Emergency Day, telling the story of the first Locust invasion through a young Marcus Fenix and his squad. The campaign supports up to four-player online co-op, while Xbox players also get two-player local split-screen, alongside a new Horde Siege mode and the return of competitive multiplayer.

Exterminauts
  • 2027
  • Action, Shooter, Third-Person Shooter
  • PC, Consoles
  • 1-3 Player(s)

Behaviour Interactive's Exterminauts is a three-player co-op PvE shooter about blue-collar workers extracting resources from alien planets for corporations that presumably don't care whether you come back. Friendly fire, ridiculous weapons and short missions add a healthy amount of chaos to the formula.

Turok: Origins
  • Spring 2027
  • Action, Adventure, Third-Person Shooter
  • PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S
  • 1-3 Player(s)

Turok: Origins reboots the classic dinosaur-hunting franchise with Unreal Engine 5, linear missions and seamless first- and third-person combat. Its biggest multiplayer addition is a three-player online campaign with drop-in/drop-out co-op and progression that carries over between sessions.

Gravhounds
  • November 2, 2026
  • Action, Strategy, Tower Defense
  • PC, Xbox Series X|S
  • 1-4 Player(s)

Gravhounds combines a co-op base builder and tower defense game with a shooter, as teams of bio-engineered dogs defend their alien outposts from invading swarms. Gravity guns, rocket launchers and a whole lot of alien enemies make this one look particularly chaotic.

Ded.Net
  • Action, FPS, Roguelite
  • PC

Ded.Net takes the PUBG universe in a very different direction, replacing the usual battle royale formula with a multiplayer shooter featuring roguelite progression. Set in a grimy 1990s version of Cascadia, it mixes team-based combat, vehicles and persistent upgrades with a deliberately strange sense of humor.

Like or Die
  • Action, Survival, Shooter
  • PC
  • 16 Player(s)

Like or Die is a 16-player survival shooter from NCSoft where four teams compete while livestreaming their matches for an audience that can reward good plays with airdrops. A Block Gun lets players build cover and new routes, while destroying another team's core prevents them from respawning.

Project ZETA
  • Second Half of 2026
  • Action, Shooter, Strategy
  • PC
  • 12 Player(s)

Project ZETA throws four teams of three players onto the same map and gives them one objective to fight over. Different heroes, roles and gadgets add tactical options, but with three other teams involved, things are probably going to get chaotic very quickly.

The Defiant
  • Action, Shooter, FPS
  • PC, Consoles

The Defiant is a story-driven WWII shooter that moves away from the usual Normandy setting and instead focuses on China's war against Japan. Alongside the campaign, it will feature a separate PvE mode based on campaign locations, although the final player count has not been decided yet.

Strategy & Tactical Games

Strategy fans weren't forgotten either. From a full 3D reimagining of one of the genre's classics to a new Game of Thrones RTS and a post-apocalyptic grand strategy game, there are some very different ways to spend your next hundred hours - assuming you have that kind of time.

Heroes of Might and Magic 3 Remake
  • 2027
  • Strategy, Turn-Based Strategy
  • PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox
  • 1-8 Player(s)

Heroes of Might and Magic III is getting a full 3D reimagining with nine returning factions, quality-of-life improvements and support for the original game's enormous library of maps, including community creations. It will support up to eight players online as well as local Hot Seat multiplayer.

Afterworld
  • Grand Strategy, Strategy
  • PC

Afterworld comes from Paradox Development Studio and puts you in charge of a small group of survivors rebuilding society in a procedurally generated version of post-apocalyptic North America. Resources, supply lines, rival groups and even the laws and customs of your new society all become part of the challenge, with both co-op and competitive multiplayer planned.

Humankind 2
  • 2027
  • Strategy
  • PC

Humankind 2 expands the historical strategy formula with a new climate system that can actually change the world as civilizations develop. Alongside shifting biomes, the sequel is adding new cultures and systems while incorporating player feedback from the original game.

Game of Thrones: War for Westeros
  • Early 2027
  • Strategy, RTS
  • PC

Game of Thrones: War for Westeros turns the world of Westeros into an RTS, letting players command factions such as the Starks, Lannisters or the Army of the Dead. Heroes, dragons and asymmetric factions are joined by multiplayer politics, including temporary alliances and betrayals.

Worms: Galactic Tactics
  • 2027
  • Strategy, Turn-Based Strategy, Roguelike
  • PC, Consoles
  • 1-2 Player(s)

Worms: Galactic Tactics takes the familiar worms and ridiculous weapons into a more structured turn-based strategy game. You build a squad, progress through a roguelite campaign and modify weapons between battles, while multiplayer is currently focused on one-versus-one matches.

Co-op Adventures & Platformers

Some of the most interesting announcements were the games built specifically around playing together. Whether you're flying through the air on a magic carpet, switching ages with your partner or coordinating two characters across different dimensions, these are the games where co-op isn't simply an extra mode.

1001 Threads of Mizan
101 Threads of Mizan
101 Threads of Mizan
  • 2027
  • Action-Adventure
  • PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2
  • 1-3 Player(s)

Inspired by One Thousand and One Nights and Arabic folklore, 1001 Threads of Mizan is a third-person co-op action-adventure where three heroes fight mythical creatures and enormous bosses. Flying carpets aren't just transportation, either - they can become part of combat and aerial attacks.

Age Twisters
  • Action, Adventure
  • PC
  • 2 Player(s)

Age Twisters is designed exclusively around two-player co-op, following a grandfather and granddaughter searching for her missing mother. Both players can switch between different stages of life in real time, unlocking abilities that have to be combined to solve puzzles and navigate the world.

Greak 2: Alliance of the Storms
  • 2027
  • Action, Adventure, Metroidvania
  • PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch
  • 2 Player(s)

Greak 2: Alliance of the Storms is a hand-drawn Metroidvania built around two siblings who have been separated into different dimensions. Their abilities interact differently with the world, making coordination a key part of solving puzzles and progressing through the adventure.

Zoopunk
Zoopunk
Zoopunk
  • Action RPG, Adventure, Metroidvania
  • PC
  • 2-4 Player(s)

From the creators of F.I.S.T., Zoopunk is a third-person action RPG set in an animal-filled world threatened by a mechanical robot empire. Four animal heroes bring different abilities into online co-op, creating a proper squad-based approach to combat.

Creature Collectors & Open Worlds

Creature collectors are clearly not going anywhere, and Gamescom brought some particularly ambitious examples. Roco Kingdom focuses on the cozy side of collecting and exploring with friends, while Aniimo aims for a much more action-heavy open-world RPG. Silver Palace and ANANTA round out the category with two very different takes on large-scale worlds and multiplayer.

Roco Kingdom
  • Late October 2026 Closed Beta
  • Action, Adventure, RPG, Simulation, Strategy, Free To Play
  • PC, Mobile, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S

Roco Kingdom takes a noticeably cozier approach to creature collection, with more than 400 creatures, farming, home decoration, a magical academy and shared exploration. Players can visit friends, explore together and even ride some creatures together, while the global closed beta is targeting late October 2026.

Aniimo(Release Date Announcement!)
  • September 16, 2026
  • Action RPG, Adventure, Open World
  • PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Mobile

Aniimo is an open-world creature-collection RPG that combines exploration and action with its roster of collectible creatures. After two closed beta tests, we're particularly interested in seeing how the developers improve its multiplayer systems before launch.

Silver Palace
Silver Palace
Silver Palace
  • Action RPG, Open World
  • PC, PlayStation 5

Silver Palace mixes a Victorian-inspired open world with detective work, combat and a supernatural conspiracy. While it was previously believed to be single-player only, the developers have now teased a multiplayer mode called House of Greed, although details remain scarce.

ANANTA (Release Date Announcement!)
  • January 15, 2027
  • Action RPG, Adventure, Open World
  • PC

ANANTA is an urban open-world RPG from NetEase that has generated plenty of interest, but its multiplayer situation remains unclear. Older interviews mentioned smaller-scale co-op features, while current coverage has largely described it as a solo experience, so we'll have to wait and see what actually makes it into the January 2027 release.

Racing, Rhythm & Platforming

And because Gamescom apparently wasn't busy enough already, there are also some very different multiplayer experiences on the way. Rayman is returning with new musical levels, Crazy Taxi is becoming a large-scale multiplayer driving game, and Stage Tour wants to bring the rhythm-game band back together - complete with optional expensive plastic instruments.

Rayman Legends Retold
  • October 1, 2026
  • Action, Adventure, Platformer
  • PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S
  • 1-4 Player(s)

Rayman Legends Retold brings back the beloved platformer with remastered content, new musical levels and an additional story. As always, up to four players can jump into couch co-op, making this one of the more accessible multiplayer releases of the year.

Crazy Taxi: World Tour
  • 2027
  • Action, Racing, Open World
  • PC, Consoles

Crazy Taxi: World Tour takes Sega's classic arcade driving series into a large-scale open world with multiplayer modes, tourist destinations around the world and the returning punk soundtrack. A multiplayer network test is planned for September 2026 ahead of the full 2027 release.

Stage Tour
  • December 10, 2026
  • Rhythm, Music
  • PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2
  • 1-4 Player(s)

Stage Tour brings the classic band-game formula back with more than 90 licensed songs, four-player local and online multiplayer, crossplay and optional dedicated guitars, drums and vocal hardware. Its Tour Mode adds roguelite progression, letting your band gradually work its way towards bigger stages.
