Our Highlights of the Core Keeper 1.0.0 Release

On August 27 Core Keeper left its successful Early Access phase and had its Full 1.0.0 Launch! Our most heartfelt congratulations to the dev team and publisher on this achievement! 🎉

With the full Launch, Pugstorm also gave us a backpack filled with new content that we have never seen so far. Below, we listed our personal highlights of the complete 1.0.0 launch patch notes.

We have been playing a lot of Core Keeper during the last phase of its Early Access, when we did our review, but we are planning on jumping back in as soon as we find the time to (and update our review as well. Though, from what we have seen and played so far, it can only get better). Pugstorm (the Developer) also mentioned that they will be continuing to work on Core Keeper beyond 1.0, bringing new content, quality-of-life-updates and more.

But back to the 1.0 patch notes. The changes that got us excited the most are as follows:

  • There are at least 5 new bosses, with a "??? boss" being the mysterious final enemy of the main story arc.
  • Two new classes were added: Mage and Warlock. Mages are more traditional RPG-casters using mana to cast powerful spells, whereas Warlocks will conjure minions to fight alongside them.
  • An all new biome was added: The Passage.
  • World generation has changed. Newly created worlds: are no longer infinite but have a maximum outer limit; are now created with a seed (so that the same world with most areas and boss locations being exactly at the same location can be recreating when using the seed); can be changed before creation to better control aspects like amount of water and ores.
  • PVP has been added.
  • Waypoints have been added, which are teleport points found in key locations that allow quicker map traversal.
  • Lots of new equipment (53! new pieces), weapons, items, fish, pets, cattle, critters, enemies and skills were added.
  • 80 new handmade scenes were added, part of which was created together with the community - wow!
  • Lots of graphics improvements, balancing and bug fixes.

One last tip: The devs recommend starting over with a new world (and not your old save games), as world generation has been changed. Old worlds are still playable for now, but this might not be the case forever.
